I’ve thought a lot about what it means to be fearless in home design and decorating. and I think what it means is being faithful to who you are, regardless of what’s trending.
I know I’m happiest when I’m decorating my home in a way that celebrates my personal taste and style. It feels good to just be me and decorate in any way and style that makes me feel the best.
I strongly believe that our homes should inspire us and reflect who we are. Showcase home decor you love, that’s authentic to you, and your home becomes your story. Decorating your home is fun when it truly says Y-O-U!
Express Yourself!
Opening the doorway to express ourselves... For some, would mean using more color and stepping out of the neutrals box. For others, could mean mixing styles and prints for an eclectic combination & vibe. What every your personal tastes, don’t be shy!
Mix different styles together. In fact, try to not consider your home style in terms of rigid labels – rather, think about what speaks to you.
Steps to Expressing Yourself
Through Home Décor
When it comes to my very personal decor style, I love integrating statement pieces into my home. And I prefer to tame down bold prints and vibrant colors by incorporating classic tailored pieces, for a combination look that expresses my personality. In fact, that’s how I dress, too!
As well, since I really like creating a unique look and vibe in each room in my home, I look for things that tie the look back together from room to room. Right now, I’m using light colored accents in numerous ways throughout my home. I’m also experimenting with using a dash of plants, baskets, and natural items like stones and shells throughout for a sense of cohesiveness.

Start With The Walls
The walls are the primary thing you, and your guests notice. Your room color says lots about you and your mood. Color affects people on a psychological level, and you’ll be seeing that wall every day – why not make it a color you love? Picking the perfect color may feel difficult, but to make it easier to decide, try paint testing in a variety of spots with different colors to see which you prefer and how the lighting affects it through the day.
Bonus tip: If you have two small rooms next to each other, painting them the identical neutral color helps them feel larger. Take a gander at a paint strip and move up or down a shade or two for a subtle variation from room to room

Furniture Makes A Statement
Furniture has a big impact as well of course. Without it, a room is just 4 walls of emptiness.
Furniture and decor are core essentials when setting the style and vibe of a room and your home as a whole. When choosing the furniture and décor for your home that will be “just right”, it’s important to find a style that suits wholeheartedly who you are and your lifestyle in the interior of your home.
Traditionally designed homes with heirloom pieces often convey a classic look and feel, while furniture with sleek lines could be a go-to choice for a modern home. One question a lot of homeowners ask is whether or not they should use a very similar style of furniture throughout their home. Is it okay to mix and match furniture pieces? Well of course, it’s good to have uniformity throughout your home, but a mix of styles can work as well, and may give quite an eclectic, impressive and expressive outcome.
Resource and pick what you like, create a board to visually play with putting items together, then experiment…and create a mixture of furniture that makes that personal statement you’re looking for come to life!

Sprinkle In Some Treasures
Family heirlooms, photographs and other personal treasures are meaningful in any home. They spark conversation, fire up warm memories and offer glimpses into the lives generations. Consider creative ways to display this wonderful memorabilia and let them enhance your life with their rich history rather than languishing in storage.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve taking a stroll through your family mementos, it may feel a bit overwhelming to begin. So just take it slow, pull out one box at a time, and focus on keeping only what is truly special. It's may feel difficult at times, but keep in mind that the impact of a small collection, carefully curated, will be much greater than a massive heap of who knows what.

Finally, if you really want to make your rooms feel personal – consider the artwork. Paintings, photography and other interesting objects really pull the area together and are a great expression of your personality.
